Colored Pencil Drawing Experience!
In this Challenge Series Workshop,
You'll Learn:
-1-
Slowing Down and Drawing with Intention
We'll work on a small 5 × 7 study so you can focus on the things that really matter: accurate structure, value, color, edges, and refinement. By keeping the subject simple, you'll have more time to make thoughtful decisions and build the drawing carefully from the beginning.
-2-
Working on Stonehenge White
Learn how colored pencil behaves on Legion Stonehenge White, a 100% cotton paper with a beautiful surface for layering and blending. I'll be working on the 5 × 7 Stonehenge White Artist Panel mounted to aluminum, but you can also use regular Stonehenge White paper if you prefer.
-3-
Using Colored Pencil with Solvent
We'll use solvent to soften and dissolve colored pencil layers, create smooth transitions, and establish larger passages of color. You'll learn how to use solvent without losing control of the drawing, and how to continue layering afterward to build richness, depth, and subtle color shifts.
-4-
Building Form, Texture, and Refined Detail
We'll study the pear carefully and learn how to build convincing form through value and color before moving into the smaller details. You'll see how to handle the soft transitions, speckles, surface texture, highlights, stem, and selective details without feeling like you have to draw every single mark you see.
This workshop is an opportunity to slow down, work small, and see just how much you can learn from one simple subject. I'll guide you through the entire drawing live and in real time, including the layering, solvent work, corrections, color decisions, and finishing touches along the way.

Small drawing. Serious study. Let's slow down, work deliberately, and create The Pear Study together!
Discover a More Intentional Approach to Colored Pencil
Sometimes working smaller gives you the chance to slow down, observe more carefully, and make better decisions with every layer.
In this workshop, you'll learn how to build form with deliberate layering, use solvent to soften and blend colored pencil, control edges, develop subtle color shifts, and refine texture without overworking the surface.
The result is a carefully developed 5 × 7 pear study—and a set of techniques you can carry into future colored pencil drawings on Stonehenge and other surfaces.
Slow Down. Look Closer.
Draw with Intention.
-
Slow Down & Build the Drawing with Intention
Work through a small 5 × 7 study with enough time to really observe the subject, strengthen the structure, and make thoughtful decisions about value, color, edges, and detail. We’ll focus on building the pear carefully instead of rushing toward the finish.
-
Use Solvent & Layering to Build Rich Color
Learn how to combine colored pencil with solvent to soften passages, create smoother transitions, and establish larger areas of color while still preserving the surface for additional layers. We’ll use that process to develop subtle greens, yellows, warm reds, and natural shadow transitions.
-
Live Workshop Experience
Follow along step-by-step as we build the piece together during live Zoom sessions. You’ll be able to ask questions, watch my decisions and problem-solving in real time, and learn techniques you can carry into future colored pencil drawings on Stonehenge and other surfaces.

What's Included
#1 Seven Live Zoom Sessions
📺 Join me live as we build The Pear Study from the first planning stages through the final refinements. Watch the entire colored pencil process unfold in real time, ask questions, and work right alongside me as we develop structure, color, value, edges, texture, and detail.
#2 Beautifully Designed Workshop PDF Workbook
📄 Includes:
• Workshop overview and project goals
• Complete colored pencil and materials list
• Full workshop schedule and Zoom information
• High-resolution Pear Study reference photo
• Stonehenge White surface information
• Solvent notes, setup information, and helpful resources to keep you organized throughout the workshop
